I did a quick run-through of the menus, backup camera and he showed me that they had located the update/upload USB connector in the glovebox. No scratches, scuffs or anything that looked out of place. Super clean installation, that looked completely OEM. I got the call on Wednesday afternoon (today), and stopped by the shop to pick up the car after work. We chatted about stroker motors for a bit, and I left feeling that I was leaving my car in good hands. The shop was clean and full of BMW’s that were in various states of race readiness. I dropped the car off on Monday afternoon, and was told that the install would take two days, but the programmer was not available until Wednesday. I won’t quote his prices here, but I felt that his quote was fair for the labor and programming that was required. Aleks was very knowledgeable, and took the time to explain what would be done. I live in Silicon Valley, and Bimmer-tech is partnered with Alekshop in Fremont. It was packaged carefully, and with enough bubble wrap to withstand a severe impact. Shipping was free (from Poland) and the package arrived about a week later. I found a replacement on ebay for about $75, but was prepared to switch from wood to the aluminum trim for about $350. I was fortunate that the shop was able to cut the trim with no issues, but you should be prepared to replace that trim piece is things go wrong. I get all channels without issue.Ī word of caution: The trim for the iDrive module must be cut to fit the new controller, and the trim is thin and fragile. Patryk advised that I also purchase an LCI climate control unit, and a newer Sirius module. I purchased the CIC Navigation Retrofit kit with the PnP Activation Module, iDrive controller with plastic bezel, trim removal tools (not needed) and rear view retrofit kit with dynamic parking lines. I reached out to Bimmerretrofit, but never heard back from them. It was his communication and patience that made this an easy decision. Patryk answered all of my questions up front, and was extremely helpful. I looked at the two competing sites (Bimmerretrofit and ), and decided to go with. 2006 M5 with Sirius satellite installed and activeĬCC to CIC conversion with backup camera and updated iDrive controller while maintaining Sirius activation
